Denture Services in Fort McMurray | Denture Specialists

Dentures are one of the most popular teeth restoration options because they look incredibly natural, are minimally invasive, and are affordable. Dentures are artificial teeth set on a base that resembles gums, custom created to fit a patient’s mouth. In the past, dentures were typically made of porcelain or plastic, but today’s modern dentures are made of hard resin.

Teeth restoration is not only for aesthetic purposes. While dentures can improve the appearance of your smile, they support the structure of the face and bring back the mouth’s natural functions, such as chewing and biting.

At our Fort McMurray dental clinic, we offer expert denture services including full sets, partial dentures, immediate dentures, and implant-supported dentures. We also provide quality denture repair if your existing set is damaged. Keep reading to learn more about the denture services we offer.

Full/complete dentures

As the name suggests, a full set of dentures covers the entire top or bottom gum line, or both. The supporting gum structure is typically made out of a similar resin material or polymer for a more flexible fit. Full dentures are not permanent and they can easily be removed for cleaning and sleeping. A complete set is ideal for patients who have lost several teeth to decay or damage and are looking for a cost-effective tooth restoration option.

Partial dentures

Partial dentures are typically recommended for patients who have 3 or more missing teeth next to each other and can’t have a dental bridge for any reason. Partial dentures are designed to restore only a few missing teeth and can come with a metal or acrylic clasp that ‘clicks’ into place or a flexible design with no clasp. They are easy to remove for cleaning and are one of the most economical options for replacing missing teeth.

Immediate Dentures

Immediate dentures are designed for wear right after a tooth extraction during the healing stage. They are created before your natural teeth are removed and are ready to be placed in your mouth soon after. Immediate dentures can accommodate your mouth as it changes during healing with the swelling of the gums. Immediate dentures are temporary and are disposed of when the permanent dentures are ready.

Implant-supported dentures

Sometimes referred to as overdentures, implant-supported dentures are anchored in your mouth with dental implants. Dental implants are artificial tooth roots typically made of titanium that are surgically placed in the jaw. Implant-supported dentures are recommended if you need to replace several teeth or the full lower or upper gum line.

Some patients who undergo dental implants choose overdentures because they’re less costly than individual crowns. The overdenture will need at least 2 implants for support. Overdentures are desirable because they are more snug and secure than traditional dentures. They stay in place, which makes eating easier and gives the wearer more confidence to speak.

What type of dentures is right for you?

The right type of dentures for you depends on several factors, including your budget, how many teeth you need to replace, and your comfort level. Call our denture specialists today and let’s get you scheduled in for an initial consultation.
