4 Reasons to Floss Your Teeth

Do you have a dentist appointment coming up? If you answered yes and just rushed to the washroom to floss your teeth for the first time in months, stop! You are not fooling your dentist. You need to start flossing regularly, every time you brush your teeth. If you ignore the little string of care for your teeth and gums, you could be opening your mouth up to some unwanted dental danger. Take this advice from Franklin Dental Centre into consideration when you decide whether you want to floss your teeth regularly.

1. Pneumonia

Are you willing to take the risk of getting pneumonia? Not likely, therefore, you should floss your teeth twice a day. You can get pneumonia due to unhealthy organisms living in your mouth that could transfer down into your lungs. Flossing gets rid of these nasty little organisms lessening your chance of pneumonia.

2. Oral Human Papillomavirus

Did you forget to floss your teeth before you got into bed? Get right back out and get that floss in between your pearly whites. If you ignore routine flossing, you could be ignoring the onset of oral human papillomavirus (HPV). Poor oral health opens your mouth up to inflamed gums and ulcers which can lend a doorway to HPV. Help prevent this disease from getting in your system by starting a healthy regiment of flossing your teeth every morning and night.

3. Halitosis

Halitosis, better known as bad breath, can occur due to a lack of flossing. Flossing your teeth helps get food particles out of those hard to reach places. If food stays stuck between your teeth, it will eventually create a stench as it starts to deteriorate. It can also cause cavities to form from all the plaque build-up. Do you want others to endure a bad smell when you speak to them? Are you worried about going to the dentist because of the embarrassing smell coming from your mouth? Stop worrying and start flossing! Your friends and your dentist will thank you.

4. No Teeth

Are your teeth starting to become loose? You might notice your gums have recessed and the strength of your roots is now faltering. You are at risk of losing your teeth. Why? While you need to go to the dentist for a check-up to be sure, it is likely caused by a lack of effort to regularly floss your teeth. Flossing your teeth gets rid of the little monsters that attack your oral cavity. Fight back with floss and take charge of your oral hygiene. If you don’t, your teeth may fall out and you will be forced to have a liquid-based diet until your dentist can come up with a solution for your mistreated gums and teeth.

What route do you want to take? The choice is yours. Are you ready for a difficult dental future or are you looking forward to oral hygiene that will keep you smiling? Flossing your teeth as part of your daily routine will get you on a bright, healthy oral pathway!
